Great Friends are So Important
I have some really great friends, honestly. Joey left for school yesterday morning and won’t be back until tomorrow. Two of my friends, James and Shannon, “kidnapped” me yesterday to take me out so I wouldn’t be sitting at home being bummed because Mr. PhD is three hours away. How sweet! We went to Chili’s, and I got the black bean burger, which was seriously dry. I also got some fries, which were fabulous (I haven’t had fries in six months or so).
Anyway, today’s yet another day; I’ll have to do some grocery shopping after work as I offered to pack all of the food for our day at the beach tomorrow. I’m making hummus wraps for lunch (yum!) and am going to bring some fresh veggies for snacks, but I’ll probably need to have a few other “snacky” things to keep us fueled for a day of fun in the sun (with sunscreen, of course!).
Yesterday’s eats weren’t too bad with the exception of the fries:

After my not-so-good breakfast, I was awesome for the rest of the day; mid-morning snack was fresh broccoli and cauliflower with a little jalopeño hummus.

Lunch was more broccoli/cauliflower soup (and an apple). I just realized how much broccoli/cauliflower I had yesterday. No wonder I was so musical.
Mid-afternoon, I was totally psyched to try this:

Yep, after all of the hoopla on everyone else’s blogs about Amazing Grass, they so kindly sent me a box of samples to try. I started out yesterday with the Green Superfoods Berry flavored drink mix (pictured with some fresh tomatoes that were a gift from a friend….straight from her garden!). I must say, this was extreeeeeeeeeeemely grassy…a little berry flavor, yes, which wasn’t too bad. My biggest complaint was how grainy it was; I shook, and shook, and shook it up in the shaker they provided, but I still found myself trying to chug it to get all of the little grains down.
Here it is “all shook up”:

Not a disappointment, though, no. I definitely had energy in the afternoon, which made me pretty productive at work. I also felt more alert and clear-headed, so the grainy, grassy taste was really a small price to pay. Today, I’ve got the chocolate drink powder, so it’ll be interesting to see how different it is.
Today will be hectic since it’s my last day of the week (what my dad would call “logical Friday”), but tomorrow will be fun! Have a good Wednesday, everyone!
