Logical Friday, Intuitive Eating, Amazing Grass Review, and other Miscellany…

Work was uneventful.  Thank goodness.  Guys, I really can’t wait until I’m out of the rat race, seriously.  Some things I’ve learned from working in a cubicle environment:

  1. There is no privacy
  2. Although there should be an unwritten rule that NO ONE ever brings fish to warm up in the office breakroom, someone undoubtedly will, leaving the whole office smelling like dirty old fish and causing your soup to taste like rotten fish for days.
  3. You’ve committed a GREVIOUS sin if you burn popcorn.
  4. You’ll never have the peace to fart as needed in a cube.  Even if you do a “test fart” and it’s quiet and odorless, the next one will undoubtedly smell like the roasted broccoli you had the night before and will sound like a pimped-out Honda Civic.
  5. You will end up with a “groundhog person” next to you…the kind that pops up all of the time to talk to you, even when you’re reading a book or on the phone.
  6. Your boss will walk by just as you’re trying to figure out how to make green oat bran ala Heather

The last one actually happened today (probably several times since I got my work done early).  When I have free time at work, I like to pick one of your blogs and go all of the way back through it and really savor the entries, glean everything that I can about their healthy living/fitness/eating methods.  Today, I parked myself at HEAB, and I have to say, I put her right up there with Oh She Glows on the inspiration-meter.  It’s really nice to read the thoughts of someone who is roughly my age and has survived the weight-loss-insanity journey.

I wish I knew my body cues better so that I could eat more intuitively.  I know….it’s a process, but I’m an “instant-gratification” kind of girl.  NOW!!  I was pretty pissed at myself tonight…I was all set to try to green oats thing tonight, even had a sweet tooth, but I went to the Teeter to get some things for tomorrow and by the time I got home, I had convinced myself to go for macaroni again:(.  Bleh.

Today’s eats weren’t too shabby, though!

What a way to start the day, eh?  My friend Anne brought watermelon in, so I enjoyed a couple of cold slices with some ice-cold water to start my morning right! (I may or may not have had another chunk after lunch).

My mid-morning snack was a staple:

Grits with an LC Wedge.  I probably didn’t need it, though, really.  I’ve got to figure out how to plan my meals so that I’m not hungry at weird times….it’s like my food barely keeps me full until the next meal, thus, making a snack necessary, but not really if I could just beef up the meal itself a little (although I think afternoon snacks are a must, really).

Today, I decided I’d give the Amazing Grass Green Superfood Chocolate Drink Powder a try:

Here it is after a few shakes:

MUCHmuchmuch better than the Berry Flavored mix.  I have to say, I was a little skeptical when Angela compared it to chocolate milk, but I can see the similarity.  There was definitely more of a chocolate taste to it, which did an excellent job of masking the grassiness.  However, I still don’t really like that most of the greens seem to sink to the bottom unless you continually shake the drink.  I still found myself chugging the last few gulps.  But, all in all, a pretty big success here!  I would definitely get this flavor, and I’ll be saving my other sample for a good time so that I can enjoy it!

Lunch was my thai soup from TJ’s and a salad (unpictured because, honestly, it was so boring that I forgot;)).  My mid-afternoon snack:

two cups of fresh broccoli/cauliflower with a small drizzle of Olive Garden dressing.  Yum!

After work, I ran by the Teeter to pick up some snackies for tomorrow; stay tuned (probably Friday) for a recap of our eats on Wrightsville Beach in Wilmington, NC.  I think I’ve chosen a good balance of healthy foods with a little treat thrown in:).

On the way home, I stopped to take care of some friends’ kitty (we’re feeding him and cleaning his pan while his mom and dad are at the beach), and had an unfortunate event….apparently, Tiger has this problem with “thinking outside the box,” if you know what I mean.  I used TP to pick it up, but must have maneuvered wrong and EEEEWWWWWWWWWWW!!  I totally touched a cat terd and was completely grossed out.  I don’t know what I’m going to do when I have kids.

Anyway, enough rambling for tonight.  We’re leaving at 6 am, so I’d better get ready for bed soon.  Mr. PhD will be home tomorrow when I get back!!  Thank goodness…I was getting pitiful:(.
